Steven Schanker -- Partner, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rochester and his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law. He is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York, the Eastern and Southern Districts of the U.S. District Courts, and the Supreme Court of the

United States of America. His knowledge and competence have earned him widespread respect amongst his peers and colleagues. A very relaxed and personable manner has enabled him to build long, gratifying and rewarding relationships with his clients.

Mr. Schanker is an accomplished public speaker and has lectured in front of both lay and professional audiences on a national basis. He has been retained and continues to be retained by several large financial institutions, including life insurance companies and stock brokerage firms. He is an active member of the Society of Chartered Life Underwriters Speakers Bureau, the Estate Tax Planning Council of Long Island, a speaker at “Top of the Table,” a former adjunct professor at Adelphi University on Long Island, and a quoted author, including articles in Forbes and Fortune magazines.

Mr. Schanker resides in Huntington, with his wife, Carol, who is an accomplished artist.


R. Mark Hochberg

R. Mark Hochberg -- Partner, received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Rutgers University, a law degree from Brooklyn Law School, and a graduate degree with a concentration in Estate Planning and Taxation from the University of Miami Law School. Mr. Hochberg is a member of the New York, New Jersey and Florida Bars, and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Hochberg has lectured and written extensively on estate planning topics. He was an adjunct instructor at Adelphi University for ten years, and is a former columnist for Financial World Magazine, where he wrote a monthly column on a wide range of issues dealing with personal and estate planning. Mr. Hochberg has been interviewed in The New York Times and other prominent publications, and has written articles for The Tax Advisor and The CPA Journal.

His patient and understanding manner is well-suited for the field he has chosen: “I enjoy working with and helping people. This area of the law is not detached and impersonal as some are other specialties. Estate planning is a cooperative process; it is not confrontational in nature.”

Mr. Hochberg resides in Plainview, New York, with his wife, Sharon, (a financial consultant) and two daughters.


Andrea B. Schanker

Partner, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Rochester in 1999 and her Juris Doctor from New York Law School. Andrea is a licensed member of the New York and New Jersey Bar Associations. She is the 2016-2017 President of the Huntington Lawyers’ Club, a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and a member of the New York State Bar Association where she is an active member within the Trusts and Estates Section and the Elder Law and Special Needs Section. Ms. Schanker is also a member of the American Bar Association.

Ms. Schanker joined Schanker and Hochberg P.C., in 2004 as an Associate Attorney specializing in Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Business Succession Planning, and Elder Law. She regularly delivers Estate Planning presentations to professionals in the financial industry and their clients. Ms. Schanker also regularly advises accountants, financial advisors, and insurance advisors in connection with her areas of expertise.

Andrea lives in Huntington with her husband, Michael Abruzzo and their daughters, Patricia Gertrude Abruzzo and Sylvia Grace Abruzzo.


Nicholas Stratouly, Esq.

Associate, received his Bachelor of Arts from Boston College, and his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law, having graduated cum laude from Boston College and Dean’s List from St. John’s. He is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York, the Young Professionals group of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce, and the Huntington Lawyers’ Club.

While at St. John’s, Mr. Stratouly was Executive Notes and Comments Editor for the Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development. His works have been published online, both on the Journal’s website (“The Employment Language Fairness Act: A Law Today That Can Bring Progress Tomorrow”) and THE JURIST, an online legal forum (“The Fifty-Year Tune Up: Two Words, A Historic Change”). His larger thesis is forthcoming in the print version of the Journal.

Mr. Stratouly resides in Old Brookville with his fiancé, Justin, a law student at St. John’s.
